LAVANDULA SUPPORT
My personal experiences
I was 'thrown into the world of epilepsy' when my son received his epilepsy diagnosis in 2020. It was a worrying time as a family, there have been many bumps along the road that we have had to learn to overcome to get to the positive place we are now.
Even though epilepsy is a common condition, I know it can feel scary and isolating. I found reaching out for support to be a huge help, and we are now in a place where we feel confident and positive about epilepsy. My personal experience has given me a deeper insight into what it can be like to live with a disability, and how to support someone along their journey.
I also have experience of living with a long term health condition, and I have learnt how to navigate that and work in a way that suits me. I love to support others to find their way too!
Working with people
After many years working within the voluntary sector, in 2022, I joined Epilepsy Action to work within the Services Department. My time there has even further ignited my spark and drive to improve accessibility in the workplace.
I have been privileged enough to support hundreds of people through peer support groups, which has further enhanced my knowledge of epilepsy and other disabilities, and made me more aware of the challenges that people face.
I have also had experience of coaching other professionals (through Yorkshire Accord) and of job coaching in the workplace.
I would love to be a part of your journey.
